Recommended for iPad? Better for android?

Noticed no ratings and only one negative comment in App Store but many in play store. Usually use my 2nd gen iPad for edits. Wanna check the app out. A free trial version would be ideal...?

moving/scaling layers

Anonymous 10 years ago updated by Meld Support Team 9 years ago 3
I feel completely duped. If I had known you can't reposition a layer once you've added it I would never have bought this app. That is an essential function when you can't see exactly how something should be positioned until you've masked it. Ridiculous. I don't suppose you offer refunds either. TERRIBLE!! WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY!!!

Just to let you know the latest update (v1.11) to Meld on both iOS and Android allows you to free transform (rotate, move, scale) a layer at anytime by a simple double tap on the main editing screen.

Payment made twice

Anonymous 10 years ago updated by Meld Support Team 10 years ago 1
I made the payment in order to install the app and i my connection timed out. I clickeded install again and the payment was made again. I have received two texts of the same payment from the card company and would like a refund of one payment.

This is really strange problem and unfortunately not related to our app but rather something you need to contact google about as this should not be possible if you had purchased the app already. Having said that though, if you contact support@madewithmeld.com with your 2 purchase receipts and we find them both we will be more than happy to refund one of them if this is what has happened. Thanks for your patience in this matter.

Can images be resized (using finger pinch/spread/rotate motion) in the main editing screen?

Anonymous 10 years ago updated by Meld Support Team 10 years ago 3
I've just downloaded Meld and am delighted at the opportunity to beta test this very promising app.

I started right in and have been exploring the UI. I very quickly came up against a road block: Once I go past the initial crop screen and accept into the main editing screen, it appears that I am no longer able to use my fingers to resize or rotate an image at will. The images in each layer appear 'locked' in place. This stopped me in my tracks:

  1. Imported base layer.
  2. Imported second layer, a variation of image in the first layer (similar but not identical).
  3. No need to crop; continued to main editing screen.
  4. Under 'Transform', I horizontally flipped the second layer to align with the first.
  5. The alignment was off due to a slight size discrepancy between the two images so I needed to pinch the second layer to resize it but was unable to do so.

I checked to see if I could find the answer here but it appears that the crop screen is the only place to resize/rotate? Am I missing something?

I've grown accustomed  -- in Leonardo -- to being able to manipulate each image, in every layer, at will, at every stage of the editing process. I'm not sure what to make of this seeming limitation in Meld and am hoping that I am simply misunderstanding something.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

it would be perfect if you add an option like writing on the images

App froze twice after masking

Anonymous 10 years ago updated by Meld Support Team 10 years ago 5
I was unable to continue editing after masking as the app froze and I had to shut it down and reopen it. It happened on two successive tries. I made sure no other apps were open hogging resources. I gave it one more try but didn't mask the entire area I wanted as masking is VERY cumbersome in Meld -- would love to see magic wand, radial and linear gradient masking tools as well as undo -- and the third try with only minor masking worked fine.

Loss of resolution when flattening image

Jacob Dix 10 years ago updated by Meld Support Team 10 years ago 3
Being limited to four layers, I had to flatten the image three times to add 12 new elements. The resolution was at that point quite low (from lossy compression), and edges of geometric figures blurry. A portion of the image shifted slightly (image included. The far left building has a shift on the roof, the second to the right building, and straight up from it the triangle also have this shift), and the image showed heavy vertical lines (especially on the right side). I fixed some of the vertical line blur whiole adding typography, in another app.

With max compression with jpgs and larger export sizes these artefacts have been severely reduced and removed in most instances. We are closing this bug but will continue to improve the output quality moving forward.

Transparent PNGs Issues

Anonymous 10 years ago updated by Meld Support Team 10 years ago 2
Importing transparent PNGs have a couple of issues - in particular with NORMAL and MULTIPLY blend modes.

First issue is if you scale the image smaller the surrounds are filled in black - when it ideally should be transparent.

Also, once the transparent PNG is added to the "meld" with either NORMAL or MULTIPLY blending the layer background is black when it should remain transparent. Which is different to how it is displayed in the crop screen.

Instagram's terrible resize algorithm for some android phones

Meld Support Team 10 years ago updated 10 years ago 2
PROBLEM
When uploading to Instagram on some android phones such as Nexus 4 the uploaded image looks pixelated and terrible. This has nothing to do with MELD, but it is in fact a problem with a poor image resizing algorithm used by Instagram on some of the android phones.

SOLUTION
Use a resize program ( eg. built in android editor, Pixlr Express which is free) and resize to 640x640 if using "Use High-Quality Image Processing" and then upload!

Otherwise,
you will need to go to Instagram options and under "advanced features" there will be a checkbox called "Use High-Quality Image Processing". MAKE SURE THIS IS UNCHECKED. Re-upload the results, guarantee the quality will be better although blurry... but better.

The zooming while masking is annoying.

Anonymous 10 years ago updated by Meld Support Team 10 years ago 1
The zooming while masking is annoying because if you don't place both fingers down on the image(one finger on the blanks space around the image), the app only recognizes that one finger has touched down and will make you erase or draw on the mask often. Fixing this would make a world of difference. Also, in these situations, an undo button would help immensely. Very promising app otherwise.

Editing tools default to previous layer

Jacob Dix 10 years ago updated by Meld Support Team 10 years ago 2
When I add a layer, the last tool used is the default, even though the new layer is selected. I have to go to the new layer, unselect it, reselect, then the tool defaults to the new layer opacity.

warning before changing mask

Anonymous 10 years ago updated by Meld Support Team 10 years ago 1
I think having an option to turn off warning would be good. Or at least 1 warning rather then each time an edit is cancelled.

perhaps  undo redo options for actions.
