Can images be resized (using finger pinch/spread/rotate motion) in the main editing screen?

I've just downloaded Meld and am delighted at the opportunity to beta test this very promising app.

I started right in and have been exploring the UI. I very quickly came up against a road block: Once I go past the initial crop screen and accept into the main editing screen, it appears that I am no longer able to use my fingers to resize or rotate an image at will. The images in each layer appear 'locked' in place. This stopped me in my tracks:

  1. Imported base layer.
  2. Imported second layer, a variation of image in the first layer (similar but not identical).
  3. No need to crop; continued to main editing screen.
  4. Under 'Transform', I horizontally flipped the second layer to align with the first.
  5. The alignment was off due to a slight size discrepancy between the two images so I needed to pinch the second layer to resize it but was unable to do so.

I checked to see if I could find the answer here but it appears that the crop screen is the only place to resize/rotate? Am I missing something?

I've grown accustomed  -- in Leonardo -- to being able to manipulate each image, in every layer, at will, at every stage of the editing process. I'm not sure what to make of this seeming limitation in Meld and am hoping that I am simply misunderstanding something.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.
We are currently implementing the ability to free transform from main editing screen along with a number of other cool features.
